Bell County Game Rooms Must Apply by Friday
Belton, TX – Beginning Friday, September 17, game rooms in Bell County will be required to either have applied for a permit with the county or cease their operations. Those game rooms still needing to register can schedule an appointment to apply with the Bell County Fire Marshal’s Office.
“If they have not submitted a complete application by Friday at 5:00 p.m.,” Bell County Fire Marshal Chris Mahlstedt said, “they will be required to close their operation until a Game Room Permit has been obtained.”
This comes after the Bell County Game Room Regulations took effect August 18. Those regulations require that game room operators have a permit application filed with the Fire Marshal by the end of this weekend. The application for a Game Room Permit can be downloaded from the Bell County Fire Marshal’s website here.
In addition to the application, game room operators are required to submit a non-refundable permit application fee along with several pieces of supplemental documentation, including: a list of all the owners and operators, a diagram or floor plan of the facility, the intended hours of operation of the Game Room, and more.
Mahlstedt says that he has been in communication with several game room owners and operators, who have submitted partial applications. Many, he said, did not have all of the supplemental documents prepared at the time of their appointments.
The Bell County Fire Marshal’s Office, located at 708 West Avenue O in Belton. Appointments to apply for a permit can be made between Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 and 11:30 a.m. by calling 254-933-5589.
